07.04.05 Martin Launches new MAC700 with HUGE expectations! |
View>> |
Description:
Denmark - Martin Professional's line of popular, award-winning MAC moving heads is expanding with the launch of the new MAC 700 Profile which squeezes as much into the fixture as possible, while maintaining the same fixture size as the MAC 550. In fact it is designed to fill the gap between Martin's mid-level MAC 550 and the 1200W MAC 2000 Profile, although this 700W profile spot is packed with more features than either.
The combination of efficient 700W double-ended lamp and new glass reflector technology produces a remarkable light output. A full CMY color mixing system and eight-position colour wheel are included. All colors on the wheel are replaceable and the CMY color mixing system, animation wheel and a 'Quiet Mode' option make the MAC 700 ideally suited to the theatre market.
A gobo animation system is included, that which was pioneered by Martin in the MAC 2000 Performance and can also be found in the MAC 550. Effects such as rising flames, drifting clouds, driving rain, turbulent water and much more are achievable. Added to that are two gobo wheels, a six slot plus open, rotating gobo wheel with 16-bit accuracy; and a nine slot plus open, fixed gobo wheel. Both feature a set of gobo designs and all replaceable.
Featuring a fully motorized zoom capable of beam angles from 14 to 30 degrees, unlike step zoom systems which offer only two or three different beam angles, the MAC 700's fully motorized zoom can achieve any beam angle within the range.
Lenses inside the MAC 700 come with optical coatings to decrease light loss and to provide a better projection quality. The lens system also comes with remote focus control for easy adjustment of the sharpness of the image projected. With a combined dimmer/shutter capable of smooth fades, the dimmer also works as a shutter for instantaneous blackouts and variable speed strobe effects. A motorized iris is included plus a replaceable, rotating, three-facet prism.
Pan movement is 540 degrees by 246 degrees of tilt. Movement is 16 bit, and an intelligent position correction system automatically returns the fixture to its original position if knocked out of place. Multi connectors and spring loaded release mechanisms mean that no tools are necessary to remove and insert modules. And a multi position tilt lock keeps the head where you want it.
The MAC 700 is only available with electronic ballast, giving the added advantages of flicker free operation, lower weight, extended lamp life and a power saving mode. Also fitted is a switchable power supply that requires no tools to select different voltage settings. | | Date Posted: July 4 2005 |

06.13.05 No Ordinary Prom! |

Description:

Oxygen Sound of Texas provide that extra something with Martin rig
Prom, that formal dance held by virtually every American high school near the end of the academic year, is one of the biggest nights in any young adult’s life. But what makes one prom better than another?
Event company Oxygen Sound of Dallas, Texas has the answer: a Martin intelligent lighting rig that brings a state-of-the-art experience to everyone.
Oxygen Sound recently provided a big time club experience for this year’s Allen High School Prom held at the Plano Center in Plano, Texas. The Martin intelligent rig included MAC 500 profile spots, RoboScan Pro 918 scanners, Atomic 3000 strobes and Jem Stage Hazers.
James Bruce, a lighting designer and programmer at Oxygen Sound, commented, “We are Martin fans all the way. We like the reliability and the cross light features between the MAC 500's and the RoboScan 918's, as well as the differences. For example, both lights have the same colors, so we can match the look across fixtures, but the 918's extremely fast mirror movement picks up on the MACs’ slower movement. The Atomic 3000 strobes really pack the punch we need to add to the 60 amps of Par-64 Punch lights. And the Jem Stage Hazers give us the perfect haze to carry the lights all the way through the room.” Oxygen Sound acquires their equipment from GearSource.com.
Oxygen Sound specializes in lighting and sound support for larger events. They started out providing DJ services to schools in the Dallas area in 1998 but by 2000 started moving into other markets such as tradeshows, auctions, corporate events and meetings, weddings, and parties.
“Usually other local companies hire us when they need to beef up their lighting, or they will package us with them,” James says. “The lights always perform reliably and as expected gig after gig. We keep our lights clean and maintained and have virtually no issues.”
