Water Colors Acclaim’s X-Ball Modular Submersible LED Creates 16 Million Colors Indoors or Out (Even Under Water!) LOS ANGELES—The X-Ball from Acclaim Lighting is a modular LED luminaire that can splash virtually any color anywhere imaginable -- indoors, outdoors, even under water. The rugged unit is equipped with red, blue and green LEDs, which can create up to 16 million colors through true RGB color mixing. Featuring heavy-duty die-cast construction and a transparent glass cover, the X-Ball is extremely weather resistant. Its strength and durability make it great for indoor/outdoor signage, building accent, video walls, logo graphics, airport lighting, bridges and hazardous environment lighting. It’s also submersible to 1 meter with an IP 67 Rating, for use in fountains, ponds, and pools. Available in two sizes – 42 LEDs (18 red, 12 blue, 12 green) or 21 LEDs (9 red, 6 blue, 6 green) -- X-Ball modules can be run individually or daisy-chained and worked in groups to 3000+ units. Up to 42 modules can be run per power supply, with 300 ma consumption per module. The X-Ball gives users a wide range of control options. Each X-Ball unit has a unique address, which is individually addressable from a PC or optional hand-held remote. Units can also be addressed via TCP/IP, DMX or Acclaim Software. Once it is programmed, the X-Ball conveniently retains the data in non-volatile memory, so users don’t have to go to the trouble of reprogramming it. The X-Ball features Digital Video Input, and when used with Acclaim Digital Video Systems (DVS) can provide full pixel video. Three operating modes are available – 1, 2, or 3-channel operation. The RGB color mixing is done in the 3-channel mode, with each channel controlling one of the three colors. The 2-channel mode features color mixing in the first channel and brightness control in the second. The 1-channel mode is used to produce a single channel of color. The X-Ball comes with 10 Preset Programs and Speed & Fade Time Selection. An optional remote controller (sold separately) is available. As an LED fixture, the X-Ball offers the advantages of low power consumption and an extremely long lamp life (50,000 hours). “With its modular design, long lamp life, and rugged durability, the X-Ball is extremely maintenance-free,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Acclaim Lighting. “It can easily stand up to the rigors of exterior and submersible applications.” So well-constructed and durable is the X-Ball that it carries a 24-month warranty. Each X-Ball module measures 3.66”L x 2.87”W x 2”H (93 x 73 x 52 mm), and weighs 1.1 lb. (.5kg) The 42 LED version of the X-Ball has an MSRP of $120.
